  • Description

JAPANESE CONSTRUCTION WORKER KINZO NAKANISHI HAS AN UNUSUAL HOBBY. IN THE RIVER NEAR WHERE HE LIVES, HE CATCHES FISH WITH HIS BARE HANDS. AND BECAUSE HE DOES IT FOR THE THRILL OF THE CHASE ALONE HE LETS THE FISH GO AGAIN.

NAKANISHI, FIFTY YEARS OLD, IS JOINED ON HIS WEEKEND FISH HUNTING EXPEDITIONS BY HIS 22 YEAR OLD SON. WEARING GLASS-FRONTED MASKS THEY DIVE INTO THE WATERS OF THE RIVER OSE AND HUNT THEIR QUARRY AMONG THE STONES ON THE RIVER BED.

THE NAKANISHIS' FIT ONLY THE SPEED AND SKILL OF THEIR BARE HANDS AGAINST THE FISH'S SLIPPERINESS AND CUNNING. AND THEY SELDOM MISS.

SOME OF THE FISH WHICH SUDDENLY FIND THEMSELVES LOCKED IN NAKANISHI'S GRASP ARE QUITE LARGE -- UP TO EIGHTEEN INCHES (HALF A METER) LONG.
