    Various finds, including a unique set of Roman brass vessels used for sacrifice services, were found in the Judean Desert near the Dead Sea by Israel's largest army supported archaeological expedition organized as a joint venture by the Hebrew University, the Government Dept, of Antiquities and the Archaeological institute. Not only the largest but also the most perilous expedition of its kind explored uncharted caves in dangerous and almost inaccessible canyons and was composed of 4 Leading Israel archaeologist, assisted by soldiers and 75 volunteers, partly Kibbutz members who are archaeology hobbyists and partly archaeology students o the Hebrew University. Of the four teams searching the caves in canyons stretching offer a twenty-five miles area, Prof. Yigael Yadin's team which worked in a ???di called Wadi Haver brought back the most important finds. Ropes and ropeladder were used to reach the caves inhabited at the time by the rebels of the Bar Kochba revolt against the Romans (app. 270 BC - 135 AD), because these men chose as their hiding places caves inaccessible to the Roman Legion soldiers and now, 2000 years later, this fact turned this expedition into a real mountaineering feat of the highest order.- Prof. Yadin, formerly General Yadin of the Israel Defence Army and first Chief of Operations and later its C in C during the latter part of the War of Independence, discovered, with the help of mine-detectors of the Engineers Corps of the Army, amongst other items in chamber #1 of his 150 meters long cave, about 60cm underground a basket full of the a/m implements, as well as an arrow from the aforesaid period, a piece of scroll of Psalms XV etc.
