TEMA HOUSES A LORRY ASSEMBLY, ONE OF SEVERAL FOREIGN ENTERPRISES ESTABLISHED IN GHANA SINCE HER INDEPENDENCE.

THE FOLLOWING DAY, MR MIKOYAN, ACCOMPANIED BY PRESIDENT NKRUMAH, TOOK A LOOK AT THE SITE OF GHANA'S BIGGEST AND MOST IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT - THE VOLTA RIVER DAM AT AKOSOMBO. AS ANNOUNCED IN WASHINGTON, DEC 17, THE UNITED STATES IS TO LEND 133 MILLION DOLLARS, OR GBP47 1/2 MILLION, FOR THE VOLTA RIVER PROJECT INCLUDING THE AKOSOMBO DAM, AN ELECTRICAL GRID SYSTEM, AND AN ALUMINUM SMELTING PLANT AT TEMA. BRITISH AND OTHER INTERESTS ARE ALSO INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT.
