AMONG THOSE AT THE SERVICE IN THE CHRISTIANSBORG CHURCH WERE THE VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, MR. HARLLEY AND AMERICAN AMBASSADOR IN GHANA, MR. FRANKLIN WILLIAMS.

    SPEAKING AT THE SERVICE, MR. A.K. DEKU, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, DESCRIBED R. MARTIN LUTHER KING AS ONE OF THE FEW TRULY GREAT MEN OF OUR CENTURY AMONG WHOM HE LISTED MAHATMA GANDHI, JOHN KENNEDY AND ALBERT LUTHULI.

    THESE MEN, SAID MR. DEKU, SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES SO THAT MANKIND MIGHT LIVE IN A WORLD OF TRUE FREEDOM, PEACE, RACIAL EQUALITY, HUMAN DIGNITY, AND JUSTICE. THE TRAGIC DEATH OF DR. KING, HE SAID, WAS AN INDICTMENT AGAINST PRESENT DAY SOCIETY AND REVEALED SOME OF ITS DEEP-SEATED SICKNESSES.

    MR. DEKU SAID THAT HE HOPED THAT THE DEATH OF DR. KING WORLD SERVE TO UNITE THE RANKS OF ALL ADVOCATES OF RACIAL EQUALITY IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE WORK THAT WAS LEFT TO BE DONE.
