  • Description

The Sierra Leone Foreign Minister, Francis Minah called on Thursday (4 September) for urgent action for co-operation between developing and developed countries.

Speaking at the United Nations special General Assembly meeting, Mr. Minah warned that to ignore that global economic crisis facing the world community would spell disaster for everyone.

And he called for courageous restructuring of the world economy and the wiping away of outmoded systems -- and the radical change of others.

Mr. Minah condemned cynics and openly hostile critics who opposed the demands by Third World countries for a new world economic order. And he said that they would have to cut out the tumour of scorn to survive.

He named the most pressing problems as: international trade; the transfer of raw materials from developing to developed nations, agriculture, science and technology.
