    SWITZERLAND YESTERDAY (26 FEBRUARY) PAID TRIBUTE AT A NATIONALLY TELEVISED MEMORIAL SERVICE TO THE 47 VICTIMS OF SATURDAY'S (21 FEBRUARY) CRASH OF A TEL-AVIV-BOUND SWISSAIR JET AIRLINER.

    MANY RELATIVES OF THE DEAD, FLOWN TO ZURICH FROM ISRAEL, THE UNITED STATES, AND OTHER PARTS OF EUROPE, WERE AMONG MORE THAN 1,000 MOURNERS AT THE SIMPLE INTERDENOMINATIONAL CEREMONY IN ZURICH'S CONGRESS HALL.

    ALSO PRESENT WERE M. ROGER BONVIN, SWISS FEDERAL TRANSPORT MINISTER, AND M. ERNEST BRUGGER, MINISTER OF PUBLIC ECONOMY.

    M. FRITZ GUGELMANN, HEAD OF SWISSAIR, SPOKE OF THE AIRLINE'S GRIEF AND ADDED: 'ANGER IS MIXED WITH SADNESS AT THE THOUGHT THAT CATASTROPHE WAS POSSIBLY DELIBERATELY PROVOKED BY OTHER HUMAN BEINGS'.

    AN ARAB COMMANDO GROUP CLAIMED THAT IT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRASH BUT LATER DENIED IT.
