    MR. WILSON ARRIVED BACK IN LONDON TONIGHT (SUNDAY) FROM RHODESIA AFTER A JOURNEY THAT INCLUDED BRIEF DISCUSSIONS IN NIGERIA AND GHANA.

    PRESIDENT NKRUMAH OF GHANA SAID THAT HE WAS ASTONISHED AT MR.WILSON'S ANNOUNCEMENT THAT THERE WOULD BE NO ARMED INTERVENTION IN RHODESIA IF UDI WERE DECLARED. BRITAIN HAD GONE BACK ON SOLEM UNDERTAKINGS GIVEN TO THE LEADERS OF THE COMMONWEALTH, HE SAID AND THE AFRICAN STATES MUST NOW MAKE PLANS FOR POSSIBLE MILITARY ACTION.

    THE COMMONWEALTH RELATIONS SECRETARY, MR. BOTTOMLEY, HAS ENDED HIS TALKS IN SALISBURY ON THE PROPOSED ROYAL COMMISSION. HE SAID THE TWO SIDES HAD ONLY DRAWN UP A DOCUMENT SETTING OUT THEIR DIFFERENCES BUT HE STILL HOPES THE COMMISSION WOULD GO AHEAD.

    AT THE AIRPORT, MR. WILSON WAS ASKED IF HE WAS DISAPPOINTED BY THE REACTION OF THE AFRICAN LEADERS.
