    THE GHANAIAN COMMISSIONER FOR AGRICULTURE, MR ALBERT ADOMAKO, HAS CALLED FOR CO-ORDINATION BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL WORKERS AND FARMERS IN THE COUNTRY. THE COMMISSIONER WAS INAUGURATING THE OPEN DAY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, UNIVERSITY OF GHANA AT THE UNIVERSITY'S NUGUA RESEARCH STATION ON TUESDAY.

    PRESENT AT THE CEREMONY WERE FARMERS FROM NEIGHBOURING VILLAGES AROUND THE FARM AND FARMERS OF THE GREATER ACCRA AREA. MR ADOMAKO ADVISED THEM TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE WHAT RESEARCH WORK CAN PRODUCE AND TO APPLY MODERN SCIENCE SUCCESSFULLY ON FARMS.

    THE COMMISSIONER SAID THE MAIN RESEARCH ON THE STATION IS IN CATTLE BREEDING, MANAGEMENT AS WELL AS ON SHEEP, GOATS, PIGS AND POULTRY HUSBANDRY. HE SAID THE STATION IS IMPROVING THE MILKING QUALITIES OF SEVERAL LOCAL BREEDS OF CATTLE THROUGH BETTER FEEDING PRACTICES AND CROSS BREEDING PROGRAMME.

    PRAISING THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, MR ADOMAKO REMARKED THAT ONLY INSTITUTIONS WHICH HAVE PURSUED THE TRUTH WITH DILIGENCE AND SUCCESS CAN HAVE SELF-ASSURANCE TO ORGANISE SUCH OPEN DAYS.
