Background: The Preparatory Committee of the People's Republic of China for Participation in the First Asian Ganefo was formally inaugurated in Peking on July 25th.
Vice_Premier Ho Lung of the State Council attended the meeting and gave important instructions. He called on physical culture workers to hold high the great, red banner of Mao Tse-Tung's thinking and, together with sportsman of other countries, make the First Asian Ganefo a great success.
Jung Kao-tung, Vice-Minister of the Chinese Physical Culture and Sports Commission and Chairman of the Chinese National Ganefo Committee made a report concerning the First Asian Ganefo. He points out that the promotion of friendship, mutual advancement, common progress and unity against imperialism is the chief purpose of the First Asian Ganefo. ' We firmly believe,' he says, 'the valiant people of Asia, with their tradition of struggle against imperialism, will certainly make the games a great success.'
The meeting unanimously adopted a resolution on the preparatory committee of the People's Republic of China for participation in the First Asian Ganefo.
The First Asian Ganefo will be held in Phnom Penh on November 25, 1966.
Delegates attending the meeting paid warm tribute to the people and government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Cambodian head of State, Prince Samdech Norodom Sihanouk for their great efforts to hold the First Asian Ganefo, and to the various Asian countries for their enthusiastic support for and positive attitude towards the games.
