Q "Do you see an extension of the fighting with the communists here in the South, or the fighting with the North."

A "We must use our maximum effort to destroy the communists in the South, and on the fighting with the North, if they don't stop their aggression we must increase the number of air raids."

Q "Up till now the Americans have been in an advisory roll, but do you see something like an joint command being established where the US are directly fighting the Viet Cong."

A "I don't think a joint command is necessary because until now we had co-operation between US and Vietnamese troops, this co-operation is very necessary to control our operations."

Q "That was Military operations, now on the political side, there have been reports of a certain cruelness on the part of Washington towards your government."

A "This is just rumours, that's all."

Q "Now on the commonwealth peace mission, do you see any sign that Hanoi want's peace."

A "I don't think they will accept this mission because their goal is international communism."

Q "Do you think they might accept a peace mission at some future date."

A "I think so if we can prove to them our strength and our firm belief in victory."

Q "Could you tell us your governments attitudes towards the commonwealth prime ministers offer to mediate to end the war in Vietnam."

A "We welcome any effort to end this war."

Q "Do you think its possible to negotiate a settlement to end the war or must a settlement of necessity be a military one."

A "At the present time I think the only settlement must be a military one, but in the future they may change their attitudes."

Q "Your are quoted as saying South Vietnam must liberate North Vietnam from communism, do you invisage an invasion of the North."

A "Its not time yet to speak of invasion by force, I am certain that most of the North Vietnamese people suffer under the communist regime, when I spoke of liberation I meant liberation of North Vietnamese people from the domination of the communists."

Q "How would you plan to accomplish this."

A "The first step would be to increase our air raids, have air raids day and night."

Q "You have said that you plan to use a youth group for the liberation of North Vietnam."

A "Many young people, especially from the North have come and told me they are ready to go North and liberate their home towns and cities,"

Q "If these people were used would they be going back as agents."

A "Yes and the government of South Vietnam will help them."

Q "How do you think the people of South Vietnam have received your government."

    A "Until now, wonderful."

Q "What would be your action if either the students or a religious group demonstrated against your government."

A "We are in a state of war and we don't allow any demonstrations from any one."

Q "Your campaign against borders and your night curfew of Saigon, how has this affected Viet Cong activity in the town."

A "It hasn't affected the Viet Cong very much."

Q "How do you think the war is progressing from the military side."

A "We are in a very strong position, the Viet Cong must soon change their attitude, because everyone in Viet Cong areas are suffering from our attacks."

Q "After the rainy season do you think you will be able to negotiate with the North."

A "Yes, once they are aware of our strong position."
