  • Description

Three Hundred million West German marks changed hands on Nov. 12 when Greek Premier, Karamanlis, and West German Chancellor, Adenauer, signed an aid agreement in Bonn.

It was the final act in Premier Karamanlis's three-day visit to Bonn, he flew back to Greece the same evening.

It is also known that the Greek Prime Minister, accompanied by his Foreign Minister, Mr. Averoff, was seeking West German support in the Cyprus issue. Observers were of the opinion that Mr. Karamanlis was hoping that Chancellor Adenauer would act as a mediator. It is well-known that Dr. Adenauer is closely informed of the Turkish point of view and is kept up to date by Herr von Eckardt, the State Secretary of the Federal Information Office, who returned from Ankara recently.
