    Teeming rain caused the cancellation of an air display to celebrate the handling over of No. 32 Fighter-Bomber Squadron to the West German Air Force, at Lechfeld Airfield in Southern Germany on July 22nd.

    This is Germany's third fighter-bomber group and contains 50 "Thunderstreak" F 84 F United States jet fighter-bomber planes, which can be armed with rockets and medium to heavy bombs.

    A visit by the Federal Defense Minister, Herr Josef Strauss, was cancelled at the last moment.

    The squadron is commanded by Lt.Col.Barth, who, with the Inspector of the Federal Air Force, Lt.Gen.Kaumhuber, Gen. Everest, of the United States Air Force in Europe, and Gen.Thatcher, his deputy, inspected the guard of honour.

    The 32nd. Squadron is the first German fighter unit to be based in South Germany.

    Watching the hand over was Cardinal Wendel, a local personality.
