Background: The President of Mauritania, Mr.Moktar Ould Daddah was enthusiastically received by the local inhabitants when he visited the southern region of the mauritanian Republic last week.
The visit, which ended on Sunday Aril 27, is one that the Mauritanian President makes regularly every two years in each of the outlying regions of this vast, sparsely populated country.
The main purpose is for the President to make himself personally known to the local population, to discover their problems at first-hand, to receive their complaints and to explain to them the principles which guide his administration.
On this tour, the president, who was accompanied by several members of his Government and of the ruling party of the Mauritanian People, visited in turn the southern towns of Kiffa, Boumdied, Guerou, El'Ghabra, Ould Yenge, Selibaby and Gourail. In Selibaby, the welcome was spiced by a group of local dancers who welcomed the Head of State with a traditional dance.
