    The Soviet Union and Austria signed a ten year trade and cooperation agreement in Vienna on Thursday (1 February). The agreement, covering economic, industrial and scientific cooperation, was signed during a session of the Austrian/Soviet Mixed Technical Commission.

    The accord with Austria follows similar recent agreements with Finland and France. At a press conference after the Vienna signing, Soviet Trade Minister, Nikolai Patolichev, said Moscow and Helsinki were implementing a programme to carry out that agreement. He said it was likely a programme would be agreed upon with Paris in the foreseeable future.

    An Austrian government spokesman said it was hoped their agreement would speed up deliveries of gas form the Soviet.

    SYNOPSIS: Austrian and Soviet Union Trade Ministers signed a ten year cooperation agreement in Vienna on Thursday. The accord was signed at the end of three cays of talks between the ministers and officials.

    Signing for Austria, Trade Minister Dr. Joseph Staribacher....and for Moscow, Nikolai Patolichev, the Foreign Trade Minister. It is the third such agreement made recently by the Soviet Union.

    The first two were with Finland and France. After the signing in Vienna, an Austrian spokesman said it was hoped the agreement would speed up the delivery of gas from the Soviet Union.

    The Austrian-Soviet accord covers economic, industrial and scientific cooperation over a wide range of activities. The three day meeting which preceded the signing was part of a session of the Austrian-Soviet Mixed Technical Commission.

    At a press conference later, Mr. Patolichev said Moscow and Helsinki were implementing a programme to carry out the terms of that agreement.He said it was likely a programme would also be negotiated with Paris in the foreseeable future.
