    The new United States Ambassador to Uganda Mr Clarence Clyde Ferguson -- first American Negro to be appointed Ambassador to an East African State call on Monday (July 20), on the Ugandan Vice-President Mr John Babiiha at his office in Kampala.

    Mr Ferguson, aged 46, and a Professor of Law at Rutgers University, discussed a wide range of topics with the Vice-President, including U.S. financial and technical aid to Uganda.

    The U.S. envoy then signed the Visitors' book, and shook hands with some of the Vice President's Staff, including Mr Bahiiha's Deputy in the Ministry of Animal Industry, Mr Karyegesa, and Mr Akol the Under-Secretary in the Ministry.

    The Vice-President is also Minister of Animal Industry, Game and Fisheries, in the Uganda Government.
