Background: Despite the payment of a big ransom, a Venezuelan millionaire industrialist, kidnapped by left-wing guerrillas, was still missing at the beginning of the week.

Sixty-eight year old tin magnate Senor Carlos Dominguez was seized by guerrillas on Friday (June 2). The kidnappers demanded a five million bolivar ransom (GBP431,000 sterling). Within hours of the kidnapping, the police Killed two guerrillas in a hail of machine-gun bullets outside Senor Deminguez's luxury villa in Caracas.

Visnews cameraman Carlos Hermida, who visited the villa on Friday, filmed the son of the kidnapped industrialist, Carlos Dominguez junior, who was to plead that the police should do nothing that would jeopardise his father's life.
