About 200 Israeli commandos attacked the southern Lebanese village of Yarin in the early hours of Wednesday morning (1 January). They blew up 10 houses and abducted four villagers.
Lebanese artillery opened fire on the Israelis who retaliated with their own guns.
The Israelis had earlier attacked to border village of Aytaroun one house was demolished and one person abducted.
Israeli artillery also shelled the outskirts of Nabatyeh, the southern provincial capital. Six shells fell in the area and injured three civilians and soldier.
The night before three Palestinian guerrillas were killed by Israeli forces a short distance inside the Israeli border near the town of Zarit.
Israeli forces were also on the alert on Wednesday because it was the tenth anniversary of the founding of EL Fatah, a Palestinian guerrilla organisation who launch many of their attacks from southern Lebanon.
