    President Felix Houphouet-Boigny of the Ivory Coast, playing host to a special fact-finding mission from Brazil on Thursday (19 June), said that his country and Brazil should co-operate to defend their raw materials.

    The Ivorian bead of state told the delegation from the Brazilian Military Academy that their country had achieved enviable development through peace. He added that the Ivory Coast was also a peaceful country, which had an army precisely to defend peace.

    Since arriving to previous Monday, the Brazilians had already met several other Ivorian leaders including Defence Minister Mouadio M'Bahia Ble and National Assembly President Philippe Yace. The prime object of the visit was to seek ways of strengthening friendship and co-operation between the two countries.

    SYNOPSIS: Climaxing a five day visit to the Ivory Coast by a fact-finding mission of Brazilians last week was a visit to the presidency in Abidjan. There the Ivorian head of state, President Houphouet-Boigny, spoke about the Brazilian mission's prime objective -- seeking increased friendship and co-operation between the two countries. President Houphouet-Boigny specifically suggested that his country and Brazil should co-operate to defend their raw materials.

    The thirty-eight man visiting mission is made up of members of the Brazilian Military Academy. In a further reference to military matters, the Ivorian President said his country admired Brazil for achieving development through peace. He added that his own country was a peaceful one, too, maintaining an army precisely to defend that peace. During their visit, the Brazilians also met the Ivorian Defence Minister and the National Assembly president.
