    THE PRESIDENT OF RWANDA, M. GREGOIRE KAYIBANDA, IS ON A THREE-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO BELGIUM. HE FLEW IN TODAY (TUESDAY) AND WAS GREETED AT BRUSSELS AIRPORT BY KING BAUDOUIN.

    BEFORE REVIEWING THE GUARD OF HONOUR WITH THE KING, THE PRESIDENT WAS GREETED BY MEMBER OF THE RWANDA COMMUNITY IN BRUSSELS AND BY M. PAUL-HENRI SPAAK, THE BELGIAN FOREIGN MINISTER.

    AFTER THE FORMAL CEREMONY AT THE AIRPORT, THE PRESIDENT AND HIS HOST DROVE TO THE ROYAL PALACE AT THE HEAD OF A MOTORCADE, ESCORTED BY MOTORCYCLE OUTRIDERS OF THE ROYAL GUARD.

    BEFORE LEAVING KIGALI, THE CAPITAL OF RWANDA, THE PRESIDENT TOLD NEWSMEN HIS VISIT WAS CONCERNED WITH IMPROVING FRIENDSHIP TIES AND TRADE LINKS WITH BELGIUM. HE WAS HOPEFUL OF RECEIVING INCREASED AID.

    SOME 1,500 BELGIANS LIVE IN KIGLI - THE BIGGEST FOREIGN COMMUNITY IN RWANDA. THE COUNTRY, PART OF A U.N. TRUST TERRITORY UNDER BELGIAN ADMINISTRATION - BECAME AN INDEPENDENT REPUBLIC IN JULY 1962.
