Background: Rumania's tennis ace Ilie Nastase and his French fiances, Dominique Grazio, were married on Thursday (7 December) at a civil ceremony in Brussels, Belgium.
The six-minute ceremony took place before the local registrar at the town hall's chandeliered wedding room in the fashionable Brussels suburb of Uccle.
Among the close relatives and friends present were Dominique's father, M. Jacques Grazio, a French financier, and Nastase's sisters Gigi and Noti.
The 26-year-old tennis idol and his 22-year-old bride met at the Forest Hills tennis tournament in New York last year.
Nastase and his bride arrived at the town hall with his bride to a red carpet welcome.
They plan to have a church wedding ceremony next week at Bazoches sur Betz, the bride's family home in France, and another a little later in Bucharest for Nastase's parents who were too old to travel to Brussels for the ceremony.
The couple will honeymoon in Acapulco, in January.
