Background: President Nicolae Ceausescu of Rumania arrived in Rabat yesterday (Monday, 7 December) at the start of the five-day state visit to Morocco. The Rumanian leader was welcomed by king Hassan of Morocco as he and his party alighted from their special aircraft.
The Rumanian chief of state, making his first visit to Morocco, is accompanied by his foreign minister, Mr. Manescu, and the Rumanian Minster of Mines, Mr. Bujor Almesan.
After being greeted by king Hassan, Mr. Ceausescu reviewed the traditional guard of honour, accompanied by the monarch. The two leaders then drove in a motorcade to Rabat, past thousands of flag waving spectators.
Later, Mr. Ceausescu and king Hassan met members of the diplomatic corps. They toady (Tuesday) held private discussions on bilateral cooperation between Rumania and Morocco, which has been increasing in the past two years.
