Background: Mass Protests by Africans and other non-European workers have been called for by a conference in Johannesburg. Delegates from all parts of South Africa asked workers to organise demonstrations - to start just before the coming general election - calling for the abolition of passes for Africans, and an end to race separation, and a minimum wage of GBP1 per day, Polling in the election takes place in a month's time and alreadt the campaign is in full swing. The United Party, led by Afrikanner, Sir de Villiers Graaf, is trying to attract the floating Afrikaan's vote and this film was taken at one of his meetings - in Johannesburg. The United Party leader is making a whirlwind tour of the country; he was given a tumultous welcome in Jo'burg, as he came forward to tell audience he wanted good relations with non-Europeans, and a realistic approach to their affairs.
