    In yet another attempt to try and establish a demonstration on Jerusalem's Temple Mount, Israeli right-wing elements on Thursday (22 July) clashed with police on the slopes of the second holiest shrine of Islam.

    The Israeli Government has expressly forbidden any such demonstrations near Holy shrines within its policy of protecting the holy places of all religions.

    The police force of about one hundred men, comprised of Arabs and Israelis removed most of the demonstrators by force. They had orders not to beat any of the protesting Israelis inside the El Aqsa Mosque, merely to remove them.

    SYNOPSIS: The El Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount is the second most important shrine in the religion of Islam.....the Israeli Government has expressly forbidden any demonstrations in or near holy shrines of all religions, but on Thursday a group of right-wing Israelis demonstrating on the 31st anniversary of the death of Zeev Jabotinsky had to be removed forcibly by police.

    The demonstrators had earlier mingled with visiting tourists, but members of the Arab-Israeli police force had been called in after a slight disturbance near the entrance to the Mosque.

    About one hundred police were called in to remove the demonstrators from the Mosque, and tourists were asked to wait about 20 minutes before the last of the struggling protestors had been removed.

    There were about 70 demonstrator. The police had orders not to fight with them, just to remove them without fuss. Most of them were pushed through a small door in the Moghrabi Gate. visitors were later restricted to entering through another small entrance.
