    The brilliant Dutch football team -- now favourities to win the World Cup -- were relaxing at their team headquarters at Hiltrup, West Germany on monday (1 July), after their 2-0 victory over East Germany the previous day.

    Their precise training schedule was delayed because some of the players were recovering form a lively celebration the previous evening. But the reserve players practised hard in the rain on the practice ground under the supervision of manager, Rinus Michels.

    The Dutch team have only to draw with Brazil on Wednesday (3 July) to be assured of a place in the final. There they will meet either Poland or West Germany, who are second favourites at 7 to 4.

    In the hotel, pressmen clustered round the Dutch stars, but the main object of their attention was the captain, Johann Cruyff, the outstanding player of the tournament.

    Coach Michels said he had confidence n the ability of the team, but that the worst thing about the competition was not the actual play but the mental strain, which increased as the final drew nearer.

    SYNOPSIS: The reserve players in the Dutch team were practising in front of team headquarters near Frankfurt on Monday, while the first team -- now firm favourites to win the World Cup Finals -- relaxed in their hotel.

    The reserves were joined by team manager, Rinus Michels.

    Michels has announced that ho would play the same team for the vital match against Brazil on Wednesday to decide who goes through to the final in Munich. The regular players have received knooks in the previous matches, and so the reserve players must be ready to come on.

    At their hotel the first team were relaxing. They had delayed their strict training schedule because some of them were recovering form a party the previous day.

    They were also talking to the inevitable band of reporters.

    The main focus of attention was the captain, Johann Cruyff, who has been the outstanding player of the World Cup so far??? He had a heavy cold during the previous day's victory over East Germany. He said that he was feeling better.

    Michels said that the worst thing about the competition was not the play but the mental strain, especially as the final got nearer.
