One of Paris's top fashion designers, Pierre Cardin, unveiled his new autumn collection yesterday (17 July). This is a particularly special year for Cardin as he is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his Paris fashion house, and his designs are expected to attract more attention than usual.
SYNOPSIS: The main feature of Cardin's collection this season is tight trousers which figure in most of his creations whether for day or evening wear. The two models are wearing three-??? length red woollen jackets with broad square shoulders and a stand-out round collar. The narrow trousers add character to the practical day outfit. The design will appeal to women who like co-ordinates as it can be worn both as a formal suit or mix and matched with different coloured trousers.
To set off the ensemble Cardin proposes a chic black velvet hat which fits closely round the face, emphasising the clear-cut tailored look of the outfit.
For those who would like an eye-catching design for casual evening wear, Cardin suggests a black velvet top and trousers brought to life by a vivid crimson tunic. The waist features a broad black ribbon, with arms and legs being left free...an ideal outfit for an evening out dancing.
Cardin escapes from harsh straight lines with this flowing silk evening dress and matching hose-pipe trousers. The emphasis is again on comfort, the bare shoulders, loose-fitting skirt and trousers leaving the model free to move and dance unrestricted.
