TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 1: AVINERI: "We believe that this conference was another, further step, towards Israeli - Palestinian peace, bot in its form and in its content. We of course, are zionists, and Israeli patriots, we have declared this in the conference and we have heard from our, from the Palestinian delegates that they are ready to have a dialogue with all Israeli's, including Zionists, who are ready to advocate Palestinian self-determination. As far as the content is concerned, in this conference the PLO delegates have I think for the first time, stated unequivocably, that the aim of the PLO now is to create a Palestinian state in the West Bank in the Gaza Strip and quote, "all other problems between Israel and the Palestinian people will be settled peacefully in a dialogue between them", unquote. I think this is a statement such as which we have never heard before, and while it is not enough for us, because we want an unequivocable statement that the PLO in return for the creation of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, is ready to recognise Israel formally and to live in peace with it. Yet we believe this is a great step towards this goal."
