For info see reuters and enclosed leaflet, also: About three and a half thousand member and supporters of the rightwing Gush Emunim movement held a rally outside Tel Aviv today in support of settlement on the West Bank. They were planning on twenty thousand...but nothing like that number turned up. It was an ??? and peaceful demonstration and various speakers spoke about the right of Jews to settle anywhere in Judea and Samaria...parts of Eretz Israel. Hanan Porat, one of the movement's leaders, told the crowd that they would establish more settlements in occupied territory, ;and he said the group would support, in the coming elections, that party which was for holding onto the land . Most observer thought he was speaking about LIKUD, though he did not mention it by name. The Gush had also told the press that a small number of members might start a torchlight procession after the rally to a spot about ten kilometres away where a small group made an abortive attempt to settle last Sunday. However, the procession never took place.
