    THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA, DR. V.V. GIRI, OPENED INDIA'S FOURTH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL YESTERDAY IN NEW DELHI. THIRTY THREE COUNTRIES ARE TAKING PART IN THE FESTIVAL, WHICH ENDS ON THE 18TH OF DECEMBER WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE AWARDS.

    FILM STARS, INDIAN AND FROM OVERSEAS, WERE AMONG THE AUDIENCE WHICH PACKED THE BANQUET HALL AT NEW DELHI ASHOKA HALL FOR THE OPENING CEREMONIES. OTHER PERSONALITIES INCLUDED DIRECTORS FROM EUROPE, NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA AND THE SOUTH PACIFIC.

    THE FILM ENTRIES WILL BE JUDGED BY AN NINE-MAN INTERNATIONAL JURY AND AT THE END OF THE FESTIVAL AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED FOR THE BEST FEATURE FILM AND SHORT FILM, THE BEST ACTRESS AND ACTOR AND THE BEST DIRECTOR. IN ADDITION, THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR GANDHI CENTENARY HAS PROPOSED TWO SPECIAL PRIZES FOR FILMS PORTRAYING THE POWER OF NON-VIOLENCE, HUMAN EQUALITY AND WORLD PEACE.
