    King Hassan of Morocco has appointed a new 15-member Government to replace some of the 29 ministers he dismissed on Wednesday (August 4) following the abortive attempt on his life last month. The new cabinet is led by Rime Minister Mr Mohamed Karim Lamrani, former Minister of Finance in the old cabinet. Altogether, ten of the new ministers held posts in the old cabinet, and the five others are newcomers to cabinet ranks.

    SYNOPSIS: Following last month's abortive attempt to overthrow King Hassan of Morocco, Rabat has been returning to quiet normalcy. However, behind the walls of the minestrone and government buildings, many changes have been taking lace. On Friday, August 6th, King Hassan appointed a new Cabinet - to replace the twenty-nine man former Cabinet which he had dissolved by Royal decree two days earlier.

    At a special meeting to present the new Cabinet to the press, it was seen that several members of the former Cabinet had been returned holding new portfolios. The new Cabinet is composed only of fifteen men - ten of them from the former Government. They will hold power for a limited time only to implement a four-point reform programme in education, justice, administration and economy.

    One of the most prominent omission was former Prime Minister Laraki - replaced by former Finance Minister Mohamed Lamrani. While General Oufkir to Minister of Defence. Others who remain in Government are Ahmed Boucht, Ahmed Laski, Haddem Chiguer, General Ben Aomer, Hadj Bargache and Hadj Bennini. The other five are new to Government.
