Newscaster asks Mr. Wilson if the Leyton by-election was a condemnation of his first 100 days.
CU Mr. Wilson.
The Prime Minister replaying to the question rejected this. He said due to local factors, such as a stranger coming in from outside the local people might have objected. The Prime Minister then continued by saying that when they were elected they told the country that the Government would have to take strick and unpopular measures even if it meant political unpopularity. But the more popular measures such as the higher pensions for the old people will not come in to power until March. As there is a high proportion of old people in Leyton they might have objected to this.
