    Runaway British MP John Stonehouse arrived back in London on Friday (18 July) and was driven straight from Hoathrow Airport to Bow Street Magistrates Court, to face charges of fraud, conspiracy and theft.

    With him was his secretary Mrs sheila Buckley, who also faces charges of theft and conspiracy.

    The couple will officially appear before a magistrate on Saturday (19 July)...their flight from Melbourne, Australia was late arriving and there was not enough time to fully hear the charges on Friday.

    Mr. Stonehouse and Mrs Buckley will remain in custody at Bow Street police station overnight.

    Mr. Stonehouse faces 21 charges involving fraud, conspiracy and forgery. Mrs Buckley face six charges concerning alleged theft and conspiracy.

    Mr. Stonehouse staged his own disappearance from a beach in Miami last November and later re-appeared in Australia.

    He had spent fifteen days prior to his departure from Australia in a Melbourne jail.

    SYNOPSIS: Runaway MP John Stonehouse arrived back in the United Kingdom on Friday, after an absence of nearly eight months. Mr. Stonehouse was flown from Melbourne, Australia to London under escort from Scotland Yard detectives. He stage his own disappearance from a beach in Miami last November and later re-appeared in Australia. He spent the fifteen days prior to his departure in Melbourne jail.

    With Mr Stonehouse, and also under escort, was his secretary and friend Mrs Sheils Buckley.

    The couple were rushed from Heathrow Airport to Bow Street Magistrates Court. There Mr. Stonehouse was due to face 21 charges concerning fraud, conspiracy and theft. Mrs Buckley faces six charges of alleged theft and conspiracy Mr. Stonehouse's daughter was the court waiting for her father. The MP'S intention was to apply for bail so he could address the House of commons before it rises.

    However, because their flight was delayed, mr. Stonehouse and Mrs Buckley will now have to officially appear before a magistrate on Saturday, there was not sufficient time to hear the full charges on Friday. both were remained in custody in Bow street police station overnight.
