Background: A giant totem pole was erected in Windsor Great Park yesterday, June 25.

The pole - 106 feet long - is a gift to the Queen from the Canadian Province of British Columbia to mark the Province's centenary.

Royal Engineers of the British Army help in the hoisting as it was a Company of the Royal Engineers which 100 years ago pioneered work in the then new colony.

The totem pole will be formally presented to the Queen on July 19.
