    Mr. Souheil Succarieh, one of the party's national leaders, attacked the Sinai agreement and the opening of the Suez Canal for the free passage of Israeli ships and cargo. In a speech to delegates gathered to celebrate the party's 29th anniversary, Mr. Succarieh accused the Egyptians of complicating and aggravating the Lebanese crisis.

    Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad was present at the rally at Damascus University.

    Various processions and festivals have been held all over the country as party of the anniversary celebrations.

    SYNOPSIS: Hundreds of schoolgirls joined in celebrations in Damascus on Thursday marking the 29th anniversary of the founding of the country's ruling Baath Party. Rallies and marches were held through Syria.

    President Hafez Al-Assad attended a huge rally that right at Damascus University. One of the party's leaders used the occasion to launch an attack on the Egyptian regime. Mr. Souheil Succarieh attacked the Sinai agreement and the opening of the Suez Canal for the free passage of Israeli ships.

    President Assad and party delegates also heard the Egyptians attacked over the Lebanese crisis. Mr. Succarieh accused Egypt of complicating and aggravating the situation.
