Background: President Joseph Mobutu was recently host to Mr Max Nokin, Governor of the General Society Bank of Belgium.
The President was also introduced to a group of students from the Ivory Coast.
Mr Nokin told the President that he was greatly impressed by the Progress made by the Democratic Republic of the Congo in recent years. He said that the Congo was a country which the General Society would view favourably for investment.
The Belgian General Society has worked in the Congo for many years, and reportedly remains the principal European commercial group there.
During another visit, President Mobutu received a delegation of students from the Ivory Coast, led by the Ivorien Minister of Public Works, Mr Tadjoehue. The Ministers Umba-di-Lutete, Cardoso and Ilo introduced the guests to the President.
President Mobutu is the sponsor of the first National Administration School in the Ivory Coast, whose students will become the future business executives of the country.
The Congolese head of state showed his guests around Mount Stanley, before inviting the delegation to dine with him.
