    THE FIVE BRITANNIA AIRCRAFT TRANSPORTING THE BATTALION ARE DUE TO COVER THE 8000-MILE TRIP IN 24 HOURS. TROOPS WERE DRESSED IN CIVILIAN CLOTHES SINCE THE JOURNEY WILL BE BROKEN BY SHORT REFUELLING STOPS IN LIBYA, ADEN, AND THE MALDIVE ISLAND.

    THE COMMANDING OFFICER, LT. COLONEL ROBERT BARBER, SAID THAT HIS MEN WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FLIGHT, AND THEY WERE NOT TOO DISAPPOINTED AT THE LIKELIHOOD OF MISSING CHRISTMAS AT HOME.
