    HEADING THE PROCESSION - ORGANIZED BY BRITAIN'S CAMPAIGN FOR NUCLEAR DEPARTMENT - WAS MRS BETTY AMBATIELOS, ENGLISH-BORN WIFE OF A GREEK COMMUNIST PRISONER.IT WAS MRS.AMBATIELOS WHO TRIED TO GIVE A LETTER REQUESTING HER HUSBAND'S RELEASE TO THE GREEK QUEEN FREDERIKA WHEN SHE VISITED LONDON IN MAY.

    THE MARCHERS LAID WREATHS AT THE STATUE OF LORD BYRON - THE BRITISH POET WHO LIVED AND DIED IN GREECE - IN HYDE PARK.THE WREATHS, ONE OF WHICH CARRIED THE BYRON QUOTATION: "I DREAMED THAT GREECE MIGHT STILL BE FREE," WERE LAID BY CANON JOHN COLLINS, CHAIRMAN OF C.N.D.

    MRS.AMBATIELOS' WREATH BORE THE DEDICATION: "IN MEMORY OF THE 500 POLITICAL PRISONERS IN GREECE." IN THE MARCH SHE CARRIED A PLACARD READING: "GIVE ME BACK MY HUSBAND, TONY, 16 YEARS A POLITICAL PRISONER."
    LATER, CANON COLLINS LED A PARTY OF MARCHERS TO LAY A WREATH AT THE MAIN GATE OF BUCKINGHAM PALACE, WHERE BRITAIN'S QUEEN ELIZABETH WILL ENTERTAIN THE GREEK ROYAL COUPLE DURING THEIR LONDON VISIT THIS WEEK.THE WREATH WAS TAKEN INSIDE THE PALACE BY AN OFFICIAL.

    MANY OF THE MARCHERS WORE BLACK SASHES OF MOURNING.INFANTS, TOO, WERE IN THE PROCESSION WHICH INCLUDED BANNER-CARRIERS FROM THE YELLOW STAR MOVEMENT, AN ANTI-FASCIST GROUP.
