    Zambia and Sudan drew 2-all in their pre-Olympic qualifying soccer match in Ndola, Zambia, on Sunday (28 March).

    The two teams now face a replay -- which has already been tentatively scheduled for this Sunday in Khartoum.

    Zambia looked to be acing certain defeat after being 2-1 down as the game moved into the final minutes. However, striker Bernard Chanda snatched an equaliser for the home team in the 84th minute.

    The game was watched by a crowd of over 20,000 including Zambian President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, a keen soccer fan who rarely misses an international match or an important local tournament.

    Sudan had the best of early play and took the lead in the 23rd minute after a goal by Hassan Haydir. Zambia came back to make it l-all when winger Moses Simwala volleyed in a 20-yard shot.

    Hassan Haydir was again on target to give Sudan a 2-1 lead which they battled hard to retain until Chanda's late equaliser.

    Sudan took an early lead through Hassan Haydir, who netted a goal in the 23rd minute.

    Zambia came back strongly. They worked a set move from a free kick in the 43rd minute and seconds later Moses Simwala had the ball in the net, to make it one-all.

    Sudan's second goal came from another Zambian free kick. The Sudanese robbed their opponents of possession and turned defence into attack with Haydir again providing the finishing touch.

    Sudan clung to their two-one lead until the match was in its final minutes. Then in the 84th minute Zambia's striker, Bernard Chanda snatched a goal to give his side a draw and force a replay. The replay has been scheduled for this Sunday in Khartoum.
