    TWENTY-THREE TURKISH CYPRIOTS, WOUNDED IN THE CLASHES WITH GREEK CYPRIOTS IN NICOSIA, ARRIVED IN ANKARA ABOARD A TURKISH AIR FORCE AIRCRAFT ON SATURDAY. SEVERAL LEADING GOVERNMENT FIGURES WERE IN THE CROWD WAITING TO GREET THEM.

    THE WOUNDED INCLUDED THREE WOMAN AND A CHILD, SOME OF WHOM HAD BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT BEFORE THEY WERE GENTLY LIFTED TO WAITING AMBULANCES WHICH TOOK THEM TO HOSPITAL. THEY TOLD OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES IN WHICH THEY WERE SHOT: AN INJURED WOMAN WITH HER WOUNDED DAUGHTER DESCRIBED HOW GREEKS PURSUED THEM INTO THE HOUSE OF A TURKISH DOCTOR, SHOT THEM, AND THEN KILLED THE DOCTOR'S WIFE AND THREE CHILDREN. TWO YOUNG MEN SAID THAT THEY WERE AMONG A GROUP ATTACKED BY GREEKS IN MILITARY UNIFORM, USING ARMOURED CARS AND MORTARS.

    SEVERAL MASS MEETINGS HAVE BEEN HELD IN VARIOUS PARTS OF TURKEY PROTESTING OVER THE SHOOTINGS IN CYPRUS. ALL POLICE LEAVE HAS BEEN CANCELLED, AND A BAN HAS BEEN IMPOSED ON GREEK FILMS. THE TURKISH PRIME MINISTER, MR. ISMET INONU, YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) PAID A HOSPITAL VISIT TO SEE THE TURKISH CYPRIOTS, AFTERWARDS SAYING TO REPORTERS: "THE THINGS THEY TELL ME ARE IMPORTANT."
    FROM CYPRUS TODAY (MONDAY) CAME NEWS THAT GREEK AND TURKISH LEADERS HAVE AGREED TO WITHDRAW THEIR FORCES IN THE VICINITY OF THE NICOSIA CEASE-FIRE LINE AND ALLOW THEIR REPLACEMENT BY BRITISH TROOPS. THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH RELATIONS SECRETARY, NO IN NICOSIA, TOLD REPORTERS THAT PRESIDENT MAKARIOS AND VICE PRESIDENT KUTCHUK HAD SIGNED THE AGREEMENT AFTER A 12-HOUR ALL-NIGHT SITTING. UNDER THE ARRANGEMENT, HUNDREDS OF TURKISH REFUGEES WOULD BE ABLE TO RETURN TO THEIR HOMES. BRITISH SOURCES SAID THAT THE DISENGAGEMENT OPERATION BEGAN AT 1230 (LOCAL) TODAY, AND IT WAS HOPED TO COMPLETE IT BY DUSK.
