    IN SAIGON LAST WEEKEND, A LARGE ASSORTMENT OF EQUIPMENT CONNECTED WITH OPIUM SMOKING, AND OBSCENE CALENDARS, WERE PUBLICLY DESTROYED -- BY FIRE. THEY WERE SEIZED BY THE POLICE FOLLOWING A SERIES OF RAIDS ON OPIUM DENS.

    MOST OF THE EQUIPMENT WERE MADE IN THE CHINESE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC AND CAMBODIA. THEY WERE SMUGGLED INTO THE COUNTRY BY RACKETEERS.

    THE CAMPAIGN, WHICH HAS THE SUPPORT AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS, WELFARE AND PUBLIC SERVICE ORGANISATIONS AS WELL AS PRIVATE CITIZENS, AIMS TO SHOCK DRUG-USERS OUT OF THEIR IGNORANCE.
