A crowd of about one thousand people waited to see the Queen Mother attend Divine Service at St. John's Anglican Church in Canberra this morning. The crowd, many of them dressed casually, saw the Governor-General and Lady Casey arrive. Canberra turned on its best weather for the occasion. The Prime Minister and Mrs. Holt were also there.
The Queen Mother was cheered as she arrived with Prince Charles at the church entrance. The Queen Mother met the Anglican Bishop of Canberra-Goulburn, Bishop Clements, before entering the church.
The crowd waited until the service was over and again cheered the Queen Mother. Her Majesty chatted briefly while scores of photographers took pictures. The Queen Mother and Prince Charles then left for the return trip to Government House. This evening, Her Majesty is dining at the Prime Minister's Hodge as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Holt.
