  • Description

Returning from a fruitless journey to the Saufar area of the Lebanon where he had been refused permission to film BCINA staff cameraman, Sepp Riff, was driving past a convoy of government troops when it was attacked by rebel snipers.

As the soldiers dived for cover, our cameraman dived for his camera and recorded these shots of a small military action in war-torn Lebanon.

As the soldiers returned the fire of the snipers, the air soon filled with flying bullets and the snipers soon disappeared into the surrounding area.

After nearly five minutes of intensive firing, the small group of troops advanced in single fire and started to mop up the area around the point of ambush. As they did so, the rest of the convoy moved on to start operations in the Saufar area - a clear explanation of the refusal to allow our cameraman to film in this area earlier in the day.

When the last of the troops finally departed, government police moved into the area and started an intensive search, setting up road blocks and searching every car that passed through the vicinity.
