  • Description

A new two-seater car, which could beat pollution and also ease the traffic jam problem in big cities, was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show which opened on Monday (23 October). The car, made by Toyota, could be supplied to any city. The makers suggest pools of the vehicles should be distributed throughout the city, with users taking one from their nearest pool and leaving it at the most convenient pool at the other end of their journey. Payment would be made on a credit system operated by a computer which would record the mileage covered by each user.

Other vehicles at the show ranged from one made in 1917, to the latest developments in no-expense-spared luxury motoring. There were also some cars there for the ordinary driver!
