    A large collection of daggers, swords, pistols and rifles went on display in Amman as part of a Jordan "fine art week" which began on Friday (1 September).

    The exhibition, in the Culture Palace of the King Hussein Sport City for Youth, featured many items more than 100 years old.I was visited by the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Ahmed Touqan.

    The daggers and swords were mostly made in Jordan, Tunisia, Iraq and Oman. The Pistols and rifles were German, Italian, Spanish and British made.

    Some of the daggers and swords were used by the great-grandfather of Jordan's King Hussein, Sharif Hussein Ben Ali-Sharif, of Mecca, during Arab revolutionary fighting in 1917.

    Most of the collection now belongs to King Hussein, his cousin Prince Ali Ben Naef, and his uncle Sharif Nasser Ben Jamil.
