    Background: Italy and the Ivory Coast Friday ( January 8 ) signed an overall trade agreement covering a total of 18,000 million lire (about 12 million Sterling ).

    The agreement includes the latest Italian loan of 4,800 million lire (about two and half million sterling) for the San Pedro project which includes the building of a deep water port in the southwest of the Ivory Coast.

    The country's Finance Minister, Mr. Konan Bedie said the agreement "corresponds so my country's desire to place external financial aid within a general framework and thus prepare better programming of our investments".
