  • Description

In Western Kashmir, Lippa Valley, southeast of Titwal, last December Indian Army had occupied over 60 square kilometres. Kayien was an important Pakistani outpost at the foot of western slopes coming down from Tutmar Gali (Pass-11098 ft). Since ceasefire Pakistan was reported to be feeling uncomfortable and restive to take bask this area. For past one week, spasmodic firing had been going on in this area. But on the morning of 5th May, Pakistanis were reported to have attacked in battalion strength the Indian-held Kayian post but were repulsed with some losses. Pakistanis also used heavy barrage of artillery to give cover to ground attack. Today (6th May) I motored out to areas east of Tutmar Gali and found life absolutely normal. Also seen were military trucks taking supplies and men to the front. Some urgently needed supplies were lifted by helicopters.
