On the sands of Daytona Beach, Florida...52 cars get their motors revved up for the final event in the Nascar races. Its a 160 mile event for late model sedans. Paul Goldsmith of Saint Clair Shores, Michigan got his '58 Pontiac into the lead and kept that position all the way. He hit speeds of 140 miles an hour on the asphalt and sand straightaways here at Daytona. That's Curtis Turner of Roanoke, Virginia. He monopolized second place with his '58 Ford. In the final lap, Gold smith misjudged the last turn and nearly lost the race to Turner who finished two seconds behind him. Goldsmith averaged 101 miles an hour for the 160 miles.
