  • Description

The former Transatlantic luxury liner Queen Elizabeth is on the final leg of her trouble-plagued voyage to Hongkong where she will be converted into a floating school.

The 83,000-ton vessel, now called the Seawise University, yesterday (Thursday) left Singapore for Hongkong after making a brief call to take on supplies.

Britain's Cunard Line sold the Queen Elizabeth two years ago and she was turned into a tourist attraction in Florida. Later she was bought by the Taiwan shipping magnate Mr C.Y.Tung who plans to use the ship for educational purposes.

The Seawise University, which broke down soon after she left Florida, is sailing to Hongkong on only two of her four engines. She is expected to reach the British colony early next week.
