    BEFORE MR. WILSON AND DR. ERHARD BEGAN THEIR TALKS, THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER INSPECTED A GUARD OF HONOUR OF STEEL-HELMETED WEST GERMAN SOLDIERS DRAWN UP ON THE FORECOURT OF THE CHANCELLERY. WITH MR. WILSON WAS HE BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY, MR. MICHAEL STEWART.

    IN A SPEECH OF WELCOME, DR. ERHARD EXPRESSED "GREAT DELIGHT" AT MR. WILSON'S VISIT. HE SAID THAT EVEN IF THEY WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL IN FINDING A SOLUTION TO ALL THE PROBLEMS, HE WAS CONVINCED THAT THE TALKS WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO CLARIFICATION OF THEM -- "WHICH IS THE BEST WE CAN EXPECT FROM THIS SHORT MEETING."
    WHILE THE TWO LEADERS BEGAN THEIR TALKS IN DR. ERHARD'S STUDY WITH ONLY AN INTERPRETER PRESENT, MR. STEWART AND DR. SCHROEDER, THE TWO FOREIGN MINISTERS, ALSO MET TO REVIEW GENERAL WORLD QUESTIONS.

    AFTER TWO HOURS THE TALKS WERE ADJOURNED, MR. WILSON, WITH WEST GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTER SCHROEDER AND MR. MICHAEL STEWART, DROVE TO THE OFFICIAL RESIDENCE OF PRESIDENT LUEBKE. THERE, THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER SIGNED THE VISITOR'S BOOK AND WAS RECEIVED BY THE PRESIDENT.
