    King Hassan II took the salute at a parade in Tangier on Wednesday (May 14) held to mark the 13th anniversary of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces.

    Afterwards, King Hassan, who was accompanied on the saluting base by hi five-year old son Crown Prince Sidi Mohammed, presented insignia to four new colonels. In a speech, the King said that Morocco's 50,000 Armed Forces were to receive instruction in religious precepts, civic duty and patriotism.

    Large crowds turned out to watch the colourful parade, and among those present were Government members and the Algerian Minister of Tourism, Abdelaziz Maaoui, who is in Morocco on an official visit.

    In March, Morocco celebrated the eighth anniversary of the King's accession.
