Background: In the course of a one-week official visit to France, the Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Navy Admiral S.G. Gorchkov spent two days in Paris, culminating yesterday (Friday) with a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe-during which the Russian Admiral laid a homage wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Admiral Gorchkov was accompanied by Vice-Admiral Storelli, who, as French Naval Chief, invited his Soviet opposite number to France. The Russian Admiral and his party arrived in France on Thursday (May 28) and will, during the next five days visit various districts of france-including naval centres at Toulon and Brest and such tourist attractions as the Chateaus of the Loire and the Cote d'Azure.
